The answer is not necessarily volume but quality. In order to truly harness Development and
Quality systems, Production Master data is critical. Selective transaction data is required, but only to
facilitate subsequent business process testing. Unfortunately SAP does not separate master data
from transaction data within the standard Basis toolset. Backup and restore and client copies either
destroy work in progress or at the very least disrupt the IT support team. Usually this exercise is
seen as an annual exercise due to the impact on resources.
